Situational Overview of Bosodong Village, Tombek Payam
Introduction:
Tombek payam is in Terekeka County of CES, it is bordering Jonglei state to the North and Lakes State to the North. The Payam is hosting IDPs from Jonglei state who fled due to armed conflict which broke out in December 2013, according to IDPs they arrived on 26/12/2013 in one of the Island called Wunror/Malual of Gemeiza County, but proceeded to Tombek Payam on 8/1/2014 and arrived on 25/1/2014.

WASH
- Limited access to safe and clean water
- Inadequate water treatment tablets is required
- Need for improvement in sanitation and hygiene through enhancing massive awareness
- Open tunnels left during road construction accumulate water for both animals and human use
Education
- There is no single school in the village as most of the children young boys are involved in animal rearing while girls in domestic roles
- No child friendly space for the children
Health and nutrition
- The healthcare unit located in Tombek center
- Long distance of about 4km to access
- Inadequate drugs
- Limited healthcare workers
- Difficulty in balancing diet especially for the vulnerable group
Protection
- No recreational kits like: football, playing boot, net ball, volley ball, skipping ropes etc.
- Inadequate dignity kits to women/girls
- Child labor
Accessibility
- The road access from Juba to Terekeka Town is Marram, from Terekeka to Tombek center it is 49 kilometers, the road is marram with pot holes, and it is the only road connecting Juba with Lakes state (Awerial) if the rain intensify some parts of the road may break.
- Insecurity has intensified recently due to the murder of the son to the former governor of Central Equatoria.
Recommendations:
- Need for drilling of new water-pumps and rehabilitation of existing broken pumps
- Provision of water treatment tablets
- Provision of literacy and numeracy learning materials
- Make the church friendly space for the children
- Support for a health facility
- Provide recreational kits like balls, skipping ropes, riding wheels etc
- Provide dignity kits to young girls and women
- Need for used (second hand) clothings
