Introductory Interaction Between WaniWani, a student of Vista Del Vale Elementary School, California-USA and Children from Juba, South Sudan on 23rd May, 2020
Introduction
The meeting was called by Wani Wani which was facilitated by Francis Limbe the president of BC Global, USA. On the other part, Bidali Henry the Chief Executive Officer of BC Global South Sudan helped in the organization of the children in South Sudan. The meeting was conducted through WhatsAppVideo Call. The meeting focused on the COVID-19 Pandemic and how the children are coping-up during the scourge.
Objectives of the meeting
- To connect the children in South Sudan to their counterparts in the USA and other countries.
- To share and exchange their views and opinions in respect to social, cultural and education life.
- To identify the challenges facing the children in South Sudan especially during the COVID-19 Pandemic
Challenges of the meeting
- Poor technology in South Sudan (weak internet, gadgets etc) made it difficult to moderate the meeting and also children are not exposed to technology.
- Lack of exposure of some South Sudanese children to open discussions and presentation making them shy during the meeting.
- Children control during the meeting was a problem.
Way forward
- Improvement in technology in future meetings and ensure that parents encourage their children to adapt to technology through basic computer trainings.
- Ensure schools and communities give opportunities to the young ones to practice leadership through active participation.
- In future meetings, children will be segregated according to age and grade.
Conclusion
In a nutshell, I am profoundly grateful to thank Francis Limbe for the coordination and time for this program. I also take this opportunity to acknowledge Wani Wanifor his love and dedication for children in South Sudan, Africa and the globe.
In his final words, he asked the children of the challenges they are facing in this difficult moment of the pandemic and how they cope with the situations in terms of sports, education and socialization. Theyidentified their needs in relation to sports such as sport wears, equipment and scholastic andlearning materials.
