It’s 2030. You wake up and command your light to turn on. You check your daily report of your health status on your phone. Then you get ready and walk outside to your electrically powered car. This scenario illustrates some of the most prevalent ways in how technology, powered by things like Electrical engineering, will change everyday life as we know it.
What gives rise to a change like this? Is it something that “must happen”? What is the future of the technological world, and the field helping power the technological world, Electrical engineering?
To answer the question of; what gives rise to a change like this, a straightforward answer, INNOVATION.
The world is changing as we know it due to innovations. Some of the latest innovations include Graphene, which can be essential in expanding battery life. Another invention includes Robotics can transform various fields. Robotics could be used in drones for delivery purposes, as they are already beginning to do now. Other innovations include virtual reality, flying cars, and wearable wireless technology. These needed functions will only help expand the job market and the field.
The innovations that will together transform the technological and engineering field are vast. The ones previously mentioned could qualify under this as well. An example could be Super Thin-Materials. This innovation’s scope is so great that it can only result in our global society’s recalibration. Tomas Polacios, an engineer attending MIT, stated, “What if we were able to embed electronics in absolutely everything,” Super thin-materials that will serve many functions in our global society but also help in conquering another problem facing the world right now.
Super Thin-Materials will heavily contribute to the battle against climate change. This technology can use simple cellular signals and convert that to reusable energy. Super Thin-Materials will surely be more prevalent in the future and
have a great chance to change and provide for many of our needs as a society. Super Thin-Materials are just one of the many all-world innovations.
The newest innovations will result in the exponential growth of jobs and opportunities in the field, whether virtual reality in the entertainment and video game world. Or drones in the delivery sphere or electric cars in the automotive area, or wireless technology in the digital world.
Modern invention has been a great leveler. A machine may operate far more quickly than a political or economic measure to abolish privilege and wipe out the distinctions of class or finance.”, says Ivor Brown. Indeed, technological advancements powered by electrical engineering may be the catalyst of it all, a new world.
